6 Most Underlying and Inspirational Quotes from Steve Jobs ...

quotes from steve jobs

It?s a shame that many times, it takes a passing of someone to make us realize how great of an individual that person is. Steve Jobs, who passed away at the age of 56 on October 5th, 2011, is best known for the co-founding of Apple Inc., and Pixar. Although he was involved in both companies, he gained more recognition from Apple for his innovation and developments of many Apple products.

Now that the world has lost a man who has been widely referred to as ?visionary?, Steve Jobs still leaves behind many of his master inventions, but more importantly he has left behind his prospective on life and how to benefit the most out of it. Here are 6 of his most underlying advices that everyone should take in.

Do What You Love

Steve Jobs once said

People with passion can change the world for the better

He says for any entrepreneurs who are working as a busboy or cashier that doing the job is not necessarily bad until they figure out what they are really passionate about, because passion is everything.

There will be a time in your life that you won?t know what you would want to do. For example, I went through three different majors within the past 15 months of collage. It wasn?t until I finally found a major that I really enjoy doing.

Whatever your passion comes out to be, you can always benefit from it. It only takes hard work and dedication to succeed, and that?s what passion will provide to you.

Have Vision

Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water, or do you want to change the world?

This quote from Jobs was given to John Sculley, who was the former Pepsi President at the time being.

If there is a vision that you see, do not lose sight of it. Seeing the big picture is what makes you bolder in doing what you do.

Sculley has said that Jobs have kept this principle throughout his career at Apple, and that he was only getting better and better at it. We can all witness this for a fact, as the first iPhone was a world?s breakthrough in the technological device world. Today, the latest iPhone, iPad, and MacBooks not only surpass as a legacy symbol, Steve Jobs held big dreams for these gadgets before they were widely well known and popular.

Dreams in your idea

The most important thing is focusing on what you see in your mind. Don?t lose focus to bring out the great in it, which brings me to his next rule:

The Power of Saying No

Say No To One Thousand Things

When Jobs got back to Apple in 1997, he quickly saw what a big mess the company has gotten during the years. Apple had a line of 350 products, and was forced to reduce down to just ten.

I want my A-Team to focus on doing only ten products and doing it very well.

Often times when you do something right, it doesn?t take much to do more than what is needed. In fact, Apple?s most popular products today are its Macbook, iPod, iPhone, iPad, the iTunes program, and the Apple TV.

I don?t even know the other four things that made the list on his ?only ten products?, but can you imagine the other 340 something products that Apple invented back in 1997?

Facebook creator, Mark Zuckerberg, also took Jobs? advice on not attempting too many ideas. While Facebook was still gaining popularity at the time, Zuckerberg wanted to incorporate more techniques the social media world, and Jobs advice him to fix the current problems first before making new ones.

You will hear a lot of time that people say quality over quantity matters, and the saying stays true to its root. Focus on one or a few things to make them great. Don?t be afraid to say no if the list gets too big, because that?s where you start losing focus and the quality of work that you put into.

Master the Message

Steve Jobs said that you can have the greatest idea but without proper execution, people will take it the wrong way or not care for it.

Instead of doing a simple presentation, Jobs did much more upon his meetings. He informed, entertained, educated, and most importantly, inspired others about his ideas. People said that he was a great storyteller because of this.

One thing that I find interesting is unlike many TV commercials today, Apple never list its price on television. Why? Because it doesn?t need to.

The art Apple?s marketing for its product is that once people see it on TV, they don?t care what the cost is. They only care about one thing, and that?s how they can get their hands on it. This is where Jobs does a great job at executing his idea through his messages.

What Are You Trying To Sell?

You have to sell dreams, not products.

It?s not unusual that everyone is wrapped up in their own hopes and dreams. Steve Jobs had demonstrated that if you help customers reach their own dreams, you will win them over.

Isn?t it funny when you see someone acting different to their mom, or dad, or friends, and they ask ?Okay, what is it that you want?? Most people put up this act to get something out of it.

Instead, Jobs emphasize that we should think about others more in their shoes, and think about what it is that we can do to help. Think about what you can do to make somebody?s life better and you shall receive.

Have Connection

Creativity is connecting things.

What he means by this statement is that those who have a variety of things in their life, they often see what others do not. This means trying out different things, traveling around new places, and just generally doing something that you have never experienced.

Before dropping out of college, Steven Job took calligraphy class that had nothing to do with his major?or really anything for that matter! He just loved the subject and wanted to learn a little bit more about it.

Little would we all assume that taking calligraphy class for him was the most important class, because the famous Apple logo and graphics that you see today are based from what he learned in calligraphy.

He also traveled around the world, going to places like Asia and India.? He said that by experiencing all these broad wealth of knowledge, it allows yours mind to connect to each other creatively.

Steven Jobs? quotes and advice are endless. His biography, which is even arguably ?left unfinished?, is well over 600 pages about how he came to be the person he is today. Available through Amazon, the author holds nothing back about describing Jobs. From revealing who he was to how he made Apple to be what it is today, the book ?Steve Jobs? is a must-read.
