Timmons Group's Charlene Harper Speaking on Low Impact ...

In her presentation Mrs. Harper will explain the concepts of Low Impact Development (LID) and the role of LID in controlling stormwater runoff. She will also compare and contrast the stormwater requirements of Virginia state permits, LEED stormwater credits, and EPA?s guidelines for complying with EISA Section 438.

Timmons Group, an ENR 500 Design Firm and a leader in civil engineering and professional consulting services, announced today that Charlene Harper, PE, LEED AP, the firm?s Sustainable Design Coordinator, will be speaking at the February 9th meeting of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Central Virginia Post held at Fort Lee, Virginia.

In her presentation titled ?Using Low Impact Development (LID) Techniques to meet State, LEED and Section 438 Stormwater Requirements,? Mrs. Harper will explain the concepts LID and the role of LID in controlling stormwater runoff. She will also compare and contrast the stormwater requirements of Virginia state permits, LEED stormwater credits and EPA?s guidelines for complying with EISA Section 438.

Mrs. Harper has worked on numerous civil and stormwater design projects for both public and private clients. She is a resident water resources expert at Timmons Group with a passion for sustainable design. Her duties include technical management, project management, project support, LEED and sustainable design consultation and project coordination from inception of a preliminary plan to certification of construction completion. Mrs. Harper?s experience relates to all phases of civil project design development and she has played a consistent role throughout her career in stormwater management design and master planning. Mrs. Harper also trains and mentors junior engineers, has lectured at several conferences, has published articles on the practice of sustainable civil design and serves on national Low Impact Development committees through the American Society of Civil Engineering.
