WELCH, Okla.?Lloyd Dale Pease, 48, of Welch, Okla., passed away on Feb. 3, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital after a sudden illness.
He will be cremated.
In Lloyd?s memory, a gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Mae Lessley Community Center in Chetopa,? starting at noon and going until around 5 p.m.

Lloyd was born Feb. 16, 1963, to Clarence and Lillie Pease.?They preceded him in death.?He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Carl.
He is survived by two brothers and their spouses,? Roger and Sherry Pease, Welch, Okla., and Wayne and Stephanie? Pease, Chetopa, Kan.; one sister, Mary Byrd, Broken Arrow, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry Mark Smith

Larry was born Feb. 9, 1943, in Parsons, Kan.?His parents were ?H. M. ?Mike? and Helen Josephine (Fowler) Smith.?They preceded him in death.?He was also preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Boitel, and one brother, Merrit Michael Smith, who died in infancy.
He graduated from Parsons High School where he played baseball and got involved in music. He co-founded the Lancer Dance Band which was widely known in the Parsons area. He then began working for MKT Railroad.?In 1972 he moved to Nashville, Tenn., to work in the music industry.?He returned to Kansas in 1981 and earned an Associate degree in Radiology at Labette County Community College.?He then worked at various jobs including Oak Hill Hospital, Joplin, Mo., the Oswego Hospital, and various manufacturing plants.
He was a member of the Mother of God Catholic Church, Oswego, where he was in the Knights of Columbus, Oswego/Chetopa Lodge. He was an accomplished guitarist and enjoyed singing and writing music.?He also enjoyed spending time with the family?and sitting down to read a good book.
Larry was married to Patricia A Saffell on May 6, 1972, in Oswego.?She survives.
Additional survivors include two children, Mike and Sandy, who were born from a previous marriage; two sons, Jesse (and Suzie) Smith, Frontenac, Kan.; and Nick Smith, Oswego; one daughter, Holly (and Kenton) Jarman, Altamont, Kan.; mother-in-law, Rosa Saffell, Oswego; three grandchildren, Olivia Smith, Conner Smith, and Jonah Jarman.
Lottie Louise Neighbors
PARSONS?Lottie Louise Neighbors, 85, of Parsons, Kan., passed away at 1:02 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Labette Health.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Lottie was born on Nov. 27, 1926, at Columbus City Hospital to Bruce and Stella Marie (Poynter) Pyne. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1944 and from Kansas State Teachers College (now Pittsburg State University) in 1949. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.
On completion of her education, she moved to Denver to live and work, but eventually returned to Parsons and taught at Lincoln grade school. She thoroughly enjoyed being a teacher and talked of her students and that time in her life fondly.
She married Bill Neighbors at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church on June 7, 1953. They were married for 50 years. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2003.
Together they owned and operated Neighbors TV at 3012 Main for over 25 years, and in later years opened Lottie?s Antiques in Oswego, which she closed upon his passing. She was an avid antique collector and considered an expert by many.
Lottie is survived by her son, Bill Neighbors and wife Julie, Oswego; her daughter, Debbie Butler and husband Rick, Parsons; and her daughter, Linda Neighbors, St. Louis. Lottie had nine grandchildren (Ryan Butler, Myndee Butler, Bransie Qualls, Meredith Butler, Bryce Butler, Chasnie Vinson, Amanda Wurmser, William Neighbors, and Nick Wurmser) and six great-grandchildren (Matthew Butler-6, Mason Butler-5, Nixon Butler-3, Asher Qualls-2, Branton Qualls-2 and Gwyneth Kate Butler-7 months) who were the absolute light of her life. Lottie?s last years were filled with the pure joy of watching her family grow.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Jimmy; a sister, Helen Robison of Hallowell, Kan.; and a brother, Arlie Pyne of Columbus, Kan.
Her sister, Marie Shearer, resides in Denver, Colo. Her sister-in-law, Rosalie Pyne, resides in Columbus, and her brother-in-law, Murl Robison, in Hallowell.
She was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Parsons, but in her later years attended Bartlett Christian Church, and First Christian Church in Parsons.
Lottie Louise was a farmer?s daughter, a college-educated career woman, beloved sister, wife and mother of three who loved her family and was especially proud of all their accomplishments. Her granddaughters would all say that she was one ?spunky little chick.? She played the piano, enjoyed music and to dance, traveled with her children, enjoyed family dinners and was very active and involved until her death.
Dr. Fred Wilbur Johnson
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.?Dr. Fred Wilbur Johnson, 79, of Springfield, Mo., passed away on Jan. 27, 2012, in Springfield.
A celebration of Fred?s life will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Second Baptist Church of Springfield, Mo. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Altamont, Kan.

Fred was born on Jan. 6, 1933, to Clyde and Opal Johnson and grew up on the family farm near Edna, Kan. In
1950, Fred graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont, Kan., and then worked as a railroad telegraph operator before attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. After graduating in 1956, Fred moved his growing family to Pittsburg, Kan., where he would practice chiropractic medicine for the next 40 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Springfield and enjoyed new challenges working for Strategic before retiring again in 2009.
A man of many talents, Fred was a skilled woodworker and an excellent gardener. He loved music?as a teenager Fred once traded a cow for a piano?and, over the years, he enjoyed playing the harmonica, banjo, guitar, piano and organ. In addition to spending time with his family, he was active in the community as a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Pittsburg Shrine, and a former volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
Fred was saved and baptized in the early 1950s, and was most recently a member of the Second Baptist Church of Springfield.
Fred is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Cindy Johnson of Springfield; and five sons, Fred ?Butch? Johnson and Susan Johnson of Oswego, Kan.; Phill Johnson of Oviedo, Fla.; Lance Johnson and Mary West of Pittsburg, Kan.; Bill and Mary Johnson of Riverton, Kan.; and Chris Johnson of Joplin, Mo; and two stepchildren, Paul Miller of Kansas City; and Melinda Miller-Trusty and husband Tarrence of Marion, Ind.? Fred is also survived by his sister, Eileta Creekpaum and husband Eddie of Tulsa, Okla.; as well as their son, Kyden Creekpaum and wife LaShawn of Paris, France.? Fred leaves grandsons Brian, Mark, Jeff, and Shawn Johnson; step-grandchildren Kourtney, Airston, and Sophie Trusty and Ashlee Kolb; and one step-great-granddaughter, Ariana.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Opal Johnson; a baby brother, Ray Dean Johnson; and his former wife and the mother of his five sons, Betty (Owings) Green.

BAXTER SPRINGS?Freddy Lee Burrows, 57, of Baxter Springs, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at his home in Baxter Springs, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 10, 1954 in Oswego, Kan., to Gertrude and Hollis Burrows.

Jerry was born Aug. 19, 1943, in Mound Valley to Elwyn and Eulalia (Hart) Merrick.?He grew up and attended schools in Mound Valley.?He graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1961.?Following his graduation from high school, he served in the National Guard.?He worked for the M-K-T Railroad before moving to Wichita where he worked for Cessna for a short time.? He returned to Mound Valley and drove a dump truck.?He then began his own business cutting hedge posts and firewood.?Most recently, he operated his own wood pallet manufacturing business.
He enjoyed gardening and earlier years he hunted raccoons and rode horses.? He also enjoyed his dogs.
Jerry and Barbara Taylor were married and later divorced. He married Judy G. Winters and they divorced, but remained close companions.?She preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2010.

Gene was born on Jan. 26, 1927, in Craig County, Okla., to Arno and Barbara ?Marie? (Trissell) Testerman. He grew up in the Craig County area as well as Bartlett, Kan.?After receiving his high school education, Gene served in the United States Navy during World War II.
On May 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carmeta Lou Stokesberry in Independence, Kan. Shortly following their marriage, the couple made their home in Coffeyville where Mrs. Testerman was a homemaker and Gene worked at Parkerburg Rig and Reel, Wheatly Valve and for over 20 years, operated Testerman Welding.
Gene was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1022 and the local American Legion. His favorite hobby was hunting. He also enjoyed time with his family and friends.
Surviving to honor his memory is his son, Darrell Testerman and wife Dayna of Arlington, Texas; brother, Arno Testerman and wife Martha of Bartlett, Kan.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arno and Barbara ?Marie?; loving wife, Carmeta; daughter, Patty Lou Testerman; and brothers, Arthur and Norman ?Duane? Testerman.

Winifred was born on Feb. 12, 1923, at Coffeyville, Kan., to Arthur and Elizabeth (Roberts) Higginson.?Winifred grew up in the Valeda and Edna area, attending Valeda Grade School and Edna High School, graduating with the class of 1941.
On Jan. 1, 1942, she married Dale Maxson at McPherson, Kan.? Following their marriage, they made their home in the Edna area.? While her husband was in the service during World War II, Winifred began working as bookkeeper at the stockyards in Coffeyville, and later at Maxson Sales in Coffeyville and Parsons, and helped her husband on their ranch near Edna.
She was a member of the Edna United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School and Bible School at her church, member of Grange, and Royal Neighbors, charter member of the Edna Roundup Club, 4-H Leader for many years, Kansas Master Farmer Homemaker, Kansas FFA Honorary State Farmer, local FFA Chapter Honorary Farmer for both Labette County High School and Field Kindley High School.
Winifred enjoyed helping plan reunions and community events being held at their cabin on Maxson Lake near Edna. She liked scrapbooking, reading, chaperoning church, school and FFA Judging trips, and antiques.?She especially loved time spent with her family, friends and being involved in her community.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Maxson, of the home; two sons, Danny Maxson and wife Peggy, South Edna, Okla.; and Rickey Maxson, Monkey Island, Okla.; one daughter, Kristi Esquibel and husband Mike, Edna; one brother, Dale Higginson and wife Wymetta, Altamont, Kan.; five grandchildren, Timmy Tyson Maxson and wife Teresa, Tracy Joe Maxson and wife Kim, Ryle Duncan Maxson and wife Ashley, Karen Ann Maxson, and Michael Rio Esquibel; and four great-grandchildren, Tegan Maxson, Taya Maxson, Taliyah Maxson, and Tracer Maxson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Timmy Dale Maxson, on Oct. 4, 1964.

Bill was born Aug. 1, 1955, in Parsons, Kan., to William F. ?Bill? and Mary Lou (Berends) Chapman.?He grew up in Southeast Kansas and was a 1973 graduate of Labette County High School in Altamont. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Bangor, Wash., until his honorable discharge in 1977.
After his discharge, he returned to the family farm in rural Mound Valley where he and his father farmed and raised cattle.?He then continued his education at Labette Community College where he earned two Associate degrees.?Following 33? years of dedicated service, he had recently retired from the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center.
He was a lifetime member of the United States Marine Corps League and the North American Limousin Foundation.?He was also a member of the VFW Men?s Auxiliary and Labette County Fair Board where he had served as beef superintendent for numerous years.?He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, his chosen profession of farming, and was an avid KU fan.? He was honored to be called ?Papa Bull? by his grandchildren.
He and Janice C. Headley were married July 9, 1976, in Wichita.? She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, Frank Chapman and wife Kelly, Parsons; one daughter, Jessica Chapman, Parsons; three grandchildren, Carollyn, Andrea and William Chapman; his mother, Mary Lou Chapman, rural Parsons; two brothers, Carl Chapman, rural Mound Valley; and Allen Chapman, rural Parsons; one sister, Donna Goins and husband Deland, Altamont, Kan.; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William F. Chapman, on Jan. 4, 2011.
Clifford Albert Kenworthy
OSWEGO?Clifford Albert Kenworthy, Sr., 85, of Oswego, Kan., died at Labette Health, Parsons, Kan., on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, at Fairview Cemetery, Melrose, with interment following.
Services are under the direction of Jim Thomas, Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, Okla.
Cliff was born July 10, 1927, in Melrose, Cherokee County, Kan., to John and Mae (Hayward) Kenworthy, who preceded him death.? He had a brother, Arthur Dale, who also preceded him in death.
He was in the Air Force a short time but had to return home due to his dad being injured.
Cliff married Jennie Elizabeth Littlejohn, Nov. 27, 1946, at the Courthouse in Oswego, Kan. They lived with his parents for a time on a farm north of Welch, Okla., until he got his own house built on land adjoining theirs.?He went on to work as a tooler/dresser/driller in the mines of Oklahoma and Kansas. He also worked KOP, Parsons, Kan.; Union Railroad; Continental Can, Coffeyville, Kan.; Eastern State Hospital, Vinita, Okla. (26 yrs.); Craig County Road Department, Welch, Okla. (13 yrs.). At their farm, they raised cattle, horses and an array of other animals in addition to a little farming.? As a past time and second income, Cliff traded horses/cars throughout all those years.?He enjoyed all the trading and attending horse functions, rodeos, and horse pulls.
The Kenworthys moved into the town of Welch in 1968.?After Cliff retired, he and Jennie moved to a retirement complex in Chetopa, Kan., in 1991.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Jennie, of 65 years, remaining at the Oswego Nursing Home, Oswego, Kan., where they?ve lived since 2000.?Other surviving family members include one son, Albert and Christy Kenworthy, Jr., Welch, Okla.; and their children, Kassi Simmons and husband Ronnie, and daughter Tori of? Bluejacket, Okla.; Kylee DeBock and husband Dillon and boys Colston and Riggin of Mutual, Okla.; Tay Thomas of Norman; and one daughter, Jeanette and Myke Rooks of Sand Springs, Okla.; and their children, Shawn Rooks, Topeka, Kan.;? Whitney Rooks of Lompoc, Calif.; and Thor Rooks, Kristen and Parker of Tulsa, Okla.
Mallory Danelle (Mellington) Henson
COFFEYVILLE?Mallory Danelle (Mellington) Henson, 23, of Coffeyville, Kan., formerly of Olathe, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at St. Luke?s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 14, at Mound Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.

Barbara Joan Turner Swearingin
LOMBARD, Ill.?Barbara Joan Turner Swearingin, widow of David E. Swearingin, passed away in her sleep at home in Lombard, Ill., on the evening of Jan. 10, 2012.
Barbara?s remains were interred beside her beloved husband in the family plot at Oswego Cemetery on Jan. 17.
