HBT: Strasburg to start for Nats on Tuesday

Stephen Strasburg will make his sixth minor-league rehab start Thursday at Double-A and assuming everything goes well he?ll come off the disabled list and rejoin the Nationals? rotation on September 6.

That had been the presumed return date for a while now, but manager Davey Johnson made it official by informing reporters today.

Strasburg, who underwent Tommy John elbow surgery on September 3 of last year, will face the Dodgers at home in his first big-league start since August 21, 2010.

Counting on Strasburg to pick up right where he left off before the surgery is unfair, but his fastball has consistently been clocked in the high-90s while rehabbing and he?s racked up 25 strikeouts in 14 innings against minor leaguers.
