NBA Superstars to Join US Basketball Team for the London OlympicsFive members of the winning basketball team during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will be joining the 12 man US Olympic basketball team. USA basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo announced that Kobe Byrant, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Deron Williams and Chris Paul are returning for another bid in Olympic glory.

Colangelo announced the selections after the training sessions in Las Vegas was concluded and still needs final approval from the US Olympic committee. Colangelo have also said that they might have a hard time bringing the roster down to 12 regardless of the injuries to most of the players. The final selections will definitely affect their games plan to have versatility, athleticism and depth in the roster.

The US team has been recently hit by a round of injuries to several of its leading candidates which includes Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. Although the training camp have benefited from a pool of outstanding players committed to do their best, thus resulting to the difficulty in the selection.

The US training camp will run until Thursday in Las Vegas, with is final day ending with a game against the Dominican Republic. Then the selected US team will train for three days in Washington before a game with Brazil. An additional two days is set before facing off with the British Olympic squad.
